Following our baptismal covenant to “seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbors as ourselves,” the Mission & Outreach Committee is charged with discerning the parish’s call in the community and providing members of St. Luke’s the opportunity to contribute their time, talent, and treasure outside the church parish.
Service opportunities have included:
- Building homes with Habitat for Humanity
- Preparing and serving meals at St. Vincent de Paul Homeless Shelter
- Completing minor home repairs for elderly, disabled, and low-income people with Mid City Redevelopment Alliance
- Making and distributing Blessing Bags for the homeless
Embracing the Journey: End-of-Life Resource Fair
Designed for seniors and their children or other potential caregivers, this fair at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church promises an in-depth discovery of the many decisions to be made for end-of-life care. For more information, contact
Becky Williams.
Mite Boxes
Throughout the season of Lent, St. Luke's parishioners- adults and children- save money in cardboard Mite Boxes. Full of spare change and dollars, the boxes are then collected on Easter Sunday and offered to local families in need.
Seasonal Outreach
Through partnerships with Volunteers of America and St. Vincent de Paul, seasonal outreach includes our Thanksgiving Dinner and Christmas Angel projects. We are also a church partner of Southeast Ministries.
